Chopard Mille Miglia GT Power Reserve

Chopard Mille Miglia GT Power Reserve Watch Review

Chopard’s race inspired Mille Miglia Gran Turismo (GT) XL Power Reserve
(ref.168457-3001) is a seriously sporty watch. There is no shortage of unique race details through out the watch’s design. The power reserve indicator at the 6 o’clock position symbolizes a race cars fuel tank indicator, with an “F” and an “E” to let you know when you running low on power. The Chopard GT has a fixed internal bezel encompassing the all black dial, with nicely done date magnifier at the 3 o’clock position. The large “12” gives a great bold “pop” to the dial, also helping to visual balance the large power reserve indicator. Race inspired, this Chopard is supported by a black Dunlop tread designed strap. Adding a subtle unique touch to the watch, equipped with a deployant (not deploymnet) buckle.
There is an exhibition case back, displaying the ETA based Caliber A07.161 automatic movement, with a guilloche rotor. The Gran Turismo XL is C.O.S.C. and is sporting a 46 hour power reserve. Great watch, that has been well thought out.

Pros - Unique overall design, nice finish, exhibition case back.

Consideration - Water resistance.

Anonimo Millemetri Polluce Drass Review

Anonimo Millemetri Polluce Drass Watch Review

The Anonimo Millemetri Polluce Drass (Model 2003) is rich in appearance and striking in design. The rich case appearance comes from the Ox-Pro blackening treatment, followed by successive sandblasting cycles to improve resistance to real world wear (Drass). It has a dark bronze like appearance and is unique to Anonimo watches. The dial has the classic Anonimo logo, note that the brand name is not actually on the dial. Keeping with the concept of anonymous, Anonimo in Italian means “anonymous”. Though, the new watches released at Basel 2010 have “Anonimo” printed inside the logo. There is a HEV (helium expulsion valve) at the 2:30 position, the date and oversized screw down crown are located at the 4 0‘clock position.
The dial is protected by domed sapphire crystal on a 42 mm case. The watch is available on Anonimo’s patented Kodiak strap. The Kodiak strap is leather that has been treated to withstand water or salt water for long periods of time and not affect the strap. Most leather straps would be ruined after being submerged into salt water for hours, another unique feature the brand has to offer. The Millemetri Polluce Drass is powered by an automatic Anonimo 01.0 off of a Sellita SW200 or ETA 2824-2, that has been adjusted 4 positions. Anonimo makes a top quality watch that will not disappoint.

Pros - Ox-Pro, Kodiak strap (one of the best in the industry), unique brand design

Consideration - The dial looks a little busy

Case: Ox-Pro
Case Diameter: 42 mm
Strap: Kodiak/Rubber
Lug Width: 22 mm
Crystal: Sapphire
Power Reserve: 40hrs
Movement: Auto
Water Resistance: 1200m

Breitling New 2010 SuperOcean Review

Breitling New 2010 SuperOcean Watch Review

The new Breitling SuperOcean for 2010 has a new look and what a great new look it is. The dial has been cleaned up and much less busy than previous versions. The dial is offered in Abyss Black, Abyss Silver, Abyss Blue, Abyss Red, or Abyss Yellow, a lot of great choices. Unlike previous versions the numerals and indices are applied, huge improvement and much needed. Notice the tip of the seconds hand match the color of the outer flange. The new SuperOcean has a new bezel, black with stainless steel slanted numerals. Adding further to the functionality of the SuperOcean is a helium escape valve at the 10 o’clock position, water resistant to 1500m (5000ft). The sapphire crystal is double sided with AR coating, optimizing a crisp view of the dial.
This Breitling is powered by Breitling’s Calibre 17 and is C.O.S.C. certified. Adding even more difficulty between what dial to choose is the choice of a Pro Diver strap, Ocean Racer strap, or the Professional II stainless steel bracelet. Breitling did a great job on this watch and there will be no shortage of happy owners.

Pros - New design, lots of variations, C.O.S.C.

Consideration - No lume dot on bezel

Case: Stainless Steel
Case Diameter: 42mm
Lug Width: 22mm
Bezel: Unidirectional
Crystal: Sapphire
Dial: 5 choices
Bracelet: 3 Options
Movement: Calibre 17

Longines Master Collection Review

Longines Master Collection Watch

The Longines Master Collection Power Reserve L2.666.4.78.3 is knock out! This is one of the best looking affordable Swiss automatic dress watches. Classic Longines styling brings the L2.666.4.78.3 to life with some nice updates.
Specifically, a new larger 42mm case, this opens the dial up nicely. The date window is very understated in a good way, tucked subtly into the 3 o’clock position. This Master Collection uses Longines self winding Swiss automatic L602 movement, visible through the skeleton case back. The absolute best feature of this watch is the power reserve indicator. A power reserve indicator is cool by itself, letting the wearer know how much power the watch has stored up in reserve. This power reserve indicator aesthetically flows with the watch almost seamlessly. The blued hands give a nice “pop” off of the silver dial. This Master Collection Power Reserve overall is a very well done timepiece.
Pros - Classic in design, power reserve indicator
Considerations - Not a standard lug width for strap changing options
