Momentum Vortech GMT Review

Momentum Vortech GMT
Momentum Vortech GMT Alarm Watch Review
Momentum has been around for 30+ years, a relatively unknown mainstream brand comparatively speaking. As must of us know, that has nothing to do with putting out a great product. Today W&R is reviewing the Momentum Vortech GMT.
Jumping straight to W&R favorite feature. The Vortech not only has a GMT function, but an alarm as well! The yellow pointer is the second timezone hand. A red pointer is used for the alarm hand, with a matching red pusher on the case at the 4 o'clock position. The alarm function is actually pretty loud, the loudness is optimized by Momentum's choice to use a ceramic resonator. The watch uses a quartz movement, making the GMT function very easy to operate. Simply depress the pusher at the 2 o'clock position to set the second timezone. The GMT hand will rotate around the dial, release the pusher when it gets to the time you desire. All the hands and indices have SuperLuminova applied to them. The lume is decent, not great, and not horrible. The chapter ring has the standard 24 hour counter displayed on it for the second timezone. There is a small seconds subdial at 2 o'clock and a date window at the 4:30 position. At this point the dial is getting a little heavy visually on right side of the watch, between the small seconds, date window, two pushers, and the crown. W&R wonders what the date window would of looked liked not being highlighted with the white trim? Might have softened up some of the "heaviness".
With all the features Momentum put into the Vortech GMT, it is comes in at very reasonable size of 44mm. The Vortech has titanium case, making it quite light and versatile. The watch is available on either leather strap or titanium bracelet. It comes standard with mineral crystal, but according to Momentum sapphire crystal is an option as well. Of course sapphire being superior to mineral crystal, there would be a premium for the sapphire option. Overall, pretty cool watch at very reasonable price point.

Pros - affordable GMT/Alarm watch
Consideration - mineral crystal usually doesn't stand the test of time
