Bell & Ross BR 02 Watch Review

The Bell & Ross BR-02 watch is available in many different options making the choice even more difficult if you are in the market for one of these bad boys. One of the great features of this dive watch is the internal rotating locking bezel. The bezel locks securely when the crown at 2 o‘clock is screwed down. The dial, hands, and helium release valve have orange accents giving the BR02 a nice visual “pop”. The watch comes on a rubber strap and is provided with a nylon strap as well. The rubber strap is more comfortable than that of the strap on the BR-01/BR-03 series in my opinion. The watch has 1000m of water resistance and uses an ETA 2892 automatic movement.

Pros - Bell & Ross has made a big splash in the watch market the last of couple years and watches like this will keep them relevant.

Consideration - No bracelet is offered if this is a desire.

Bell & Ross BR01 Airborne Review

The Bell & Ross BR01 Airborne mens watch is typical B&R, cutting edge and original. The BR01 design has fueled the brands rise in popularity to the top. This variation is no different, distinctive, bold, and unmistakably B&R. The Airborne incorporates the skull and cross bones on the face into the design of the case as well. The skull was used as reference to the US Airborne’s motto of “Death from Above” and glows a luminescent vibrant green. Adding to the menacing look the Airborne is equipped with dagger/sword hands and a PVD coated case. This watch is limited to 500 pieces and is sure to be hard to locate.

Pros - Very unique piece, sure to be a collector’s item.

Consideration - Could you handle the inevitable scratch/ding you would get wearing this in the wild?

The Bell & Ross BR01 series has helped put the brand on the map and the popularity has become infectious. The BR01 and BR03 are in the Instrument series, designed to look like a gauge from an instrument panel on an airplane.

The BR01 series are 46mm and the BR01-94 is the PVD (black powdered coated) chronograph version. The chronograph is powered by an ETA 2894, the functions include 12 hour, 30 minute, and 60 seconds counters. The BR01-94 hands, numerals, and indices are painted in white lume. This gives lume adds the a fantastic contrast against the all black case, dial, and rubber strap. The chronograph pushers are rectangular in shape further complimenting the overall design of this watch. There is a small date window at the 4:30 position, nicely done not to distract from the main chronograph functions. It comes with two straps, one rubber, one nylon, with a PVD tang buckle. Over all the watch is very striking with the crisp contrast of white and black.

Pros - Unique design, bold, looks great.

Consideration - Wears larger because it is square, the BR03 would be an alternative

Bell & Ross BR01-94 PVD Review

The Bell & Ross Vintage BR 123 Heritage already looks like an instant fresh classic. Bell & Ross seems to get it right more often than other brands with new releases. Their designs are distinctive, with very clean lines throughout. This homage to the pilots of the 1940‘s is no different. The dial on this BR 123 is matte black with tan colored luminescent on the hands, numerals, and indices. Wow, does that combination look amazing! The matte black dial is set into 41mm PVD finished steel case. The layout of dial is very well done, including a unique date window located partially into the seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. Not to be overlooked is the domed AR coated sapphire crystal, best appreciated in person. Rounding out the overall vintage appearance of the BR 123 is a comfortable natural leather strap. Aesthetically, one of the best aviator style watches in the market. Easy to read and unmistakable Bell & Ross.

Pros - Design, extremely legible, very well executed

Consideration - With PVD scratches are not easily buffed out do to the finish.

Bell & Ross Vintage BR03-90 Big Date Power Reserve

Case: Stainless Steel

Case Diameter: 42mm

Crystal: AR Sapphire

Bezel: Fixed

Dial: Matte Black

Strap: Black Rubber

Movement: Automatic

Power Reserve: 40 hrs

Water Resistant: 100m

New for 2012 from Bell & Ross is the BR03-90 Big Date and Power Reserve. Back to what put Bell & Ross on the map, the instrument series. This likely to be one of W&R favorite stainless steel BR03’s for sometime. The BR01’s are great, but unless you have LARGE wrist, it tends to look like a large square plate at 46mm. The BR03 series at 42mm is the most proportional size for majority wrist out there on the streets. Keep in mind because it is square, it wears much larger than a more traditional 42mm.

Why is it a new favorite beyond the 42mm size? The date window has moved to the 12 o’clock position and is larger, hence, the name Big Date. Always love a power reserve indicator as long as it does not clutter up the dial. Bell & Ross stayed with a simple layout and it works very well on the BR03-90. The Bell & Ross name and logo has been shifted to the 3 o’clock position. Though, the watch might be better balanced without the 9 numeral and just have the 12 numeral. The watch uses an automatic movement, with a 40 hour power, and of course the indicator to keep you informed. If you have been a fan of the instrument series and have not taken the plunge, this might be the one for you.

Pros - Big Date, Power Reserve, 42mm

Consideration - Balance of the dial
