Citizen Watch Reviews: Promaster, Professional Diver 300M, Nighthawk, World Perpetual AT
Citizen Eco-Drive Professional Diver 300M Review
The Citizen Promaster Diver (BN0085-01E) is a beefed up version of the Professional Diver reviewed below. The Promaster is a more classically designed dive watch compared to the Professional Diver. Jumping full steam ahead in the “go big or go home” watch trend, this Promaster comes in at 47mm. It may have been a better choice to go around the 44-45mm range, going this large will likely decrease potential buyers.
A sun ray pattern is used on the dial in conjunction with the Eco-Drive solar powered movement. Blue accents are used sparingly throughout the dial, less is more works good here. W&R really likes the style of the hands used. Though, the minute hand is a bit to short for the dial. The indices have decent lume and work very well with the dial & hands. There is a date window located at the 3 o’clock position. Here it might have been a better option to eliminate the cropped hour marker. Instead, a larger date window and no hour marker as it would no longer be needed, would have worked better aesthetically and functionally. On a very positive note, Citizen went with a 120 click vs a 60 click bezel. The bezel has a nice crisp feel while rotating for a watch a this price point. The 60 on the bezel itself is lumed well, the rest of the bezel is free of lume. An integrated rubber strap with buckle round out the overall appearance. If you are looking for a large dive watch at an affordable price point, this 300m Promaster is worth considering.
Pros - Eco-Drive, 300m, 120 click bezel
Consideration - Size, short lugs will limit other strap options
Case: Stainless Steel
Case Diameter: 44mm
Strap: Rubber
Lug Width: 23mm
Bezel: Unidirectional
Crystal: Mineral
Power Reserve: 180 Days
Movement: Eco-Drive

Citizen Eco-Drive Nighthawk Watch Review
The Nighthawk Stainless Steel watch is another great Eco-Driven watch by Citizen. This is a more traditional pilot watch, there is a slide rule bezel and a GMT function. The inner rotating slide rule is operated by the crown located at the 8 o’clock position, giving the watch a nice balance. There is a good sized date window at 3 o’clock and large luminescent hands/markers that compliment the dial. The Nighthawk has an astounding 180 power reserve and is rated to 200m of water resistance. This a lot of watch at a good value.
Pros - Power Reserve, GMT
Consideration - The dial can be a bit busy at times
Case: Stainless Steel
Case Diameter: 43mm
Bezel: Bidirectional
Bracelet: Stainless Steel
Lug Width: 22mm
Crystal: Mineral
Power Reserve: 180 hrs
Movement: Eco-Drive
Water Resistance: 200m
Citizen is very well known for its Eco-Drive range of watches. The Citizen Eco-Drive Professional Diver 300M (ref # BN0070-09E) is another great example using this light powered technology. One of the first things you will notice about this watch is the wave pattern used on the dial, along with the large lumed indices. The yellow seconds hand, Divers 300M, and the accent at the 12 o’clock position, all add a nice visual contrast to the dial. It has a very soft integrated black rubber diver’s strap, it is functional and comfortable.
Now for the information that makes this Eco-Drive watch so impressive: 180 Day Power Reserve, no battery to change (ever!), 300M water resistance, screw-down crown, 44mm case diameter, 13mm thick, 5 Year Original Citizen US Warranty through an Authorized Dealer. All of this makes for one heck of an affordable dive watch.
Pros - Great value, 180 Day Power Reserve, 5 year US warranty from an AD
Consideration - Mineral crystal, integrated strap limits options for change

The Citizen World Perpetual AT packs a big punch at an extremely reasonable price point. One of the biggest features easily overlooked in my opinion is the use of sapphire crystal within this collection. This will help ensure you can see your dial scratch free for years to come. The dial is designed very well, it has nice depth and contrast throughout. In between the 4 and 5 o’clock position there is an “on/off” function, this is for day light savings time. You will also notice in between the 8 and 10 o’clock position there is a section for that is used for syncing the atomic clock via radio controlled frequency. Nice!
World time is a breeze, simply pull the crown out and pick the needed timezone from any of the 26 major cities for your travels. There is a standard date window at the 3 o’clock position. The World Perpetual AT has nicely defined hour and seconds hands, complimenting the hour indices markers. Citizen offers the World Perpetual AT in many variations, dial color, bracelet or strap, stainless steel, titanium, and some limited editions. Overall, great watch, packed full of practical features, including Eco-Drive.
Pros - Sapphire crystal, atomic time, ease of use, newer movement being used H144
Consideration - The crown may be hard to work for some, it is on the small side.
