Doxa Watch Reviews: Sub 750T GMT, Sub 5000T Pro COSC

Doxa Sub 750T GMT Professional Review

Doxa is well known for their dive watches, orange dialed divers more specifically. Why orange? Doxa’s research in the 60‘s found that orange is the most visible color in water and at greater depths.

Enter what some consider to be the ultimate dive watch, the Doxa Sub 5000T Seaconqueror Professional COSC. What makes this potentially the ultimate dive watch? The 120 click bezel, adjustable decompression table, HRV (helium release valve), ratcheting divers extension, COSC ETA 2892 automatic movement, quick-set date, 1500m of water resistance, Super-Luminova, domed sapphire crystal (3mm), and of course the iconic Doxa orange dial.

One of the more noticeable changes to the 5000T over the majority of Doxa’s collection is the move from the vintage styled Doxa bracelet. This bracelet has an improved divers extension and is more modern in appearance. Still extremely comfortable and very well executed. Of course the Sub 5000T Seaconqueror Professional COSC (long name!) has the Doxa cushion styled case. Even with the modern updates to this this watch it is unmistakable Doxa and every bit a professional dive watch.

Pros - COSC, improved divers extension, true professional dive watch

A Doxa for the world traveling diver! Doxa has released the 750T in a GMT version. This is the Doxa Sub 750T GMT Professional, other available versions are the Sharkhunter, Caribbean, and Divingstar. All four version are limited to 1000 pieces each.

Somewhat unique for a dive watch is the GMT complication. The 750T GMT then furthering separates it’s self from other GMT divers by displaying three times zones, opposed to the standard second timezone only. The ability to tell a third timezone is achieved by the use of a 24 hour internal rotating bezel. An oversized skeleton hand is used for the GMT hour complication, very cool. The internal bezel is rotated by a screw down crown located at the 2 o’clock position. Powering the watch and GMT hour hand is the trusted ETA 2893-2 automatic movement. A white date window is displayed at the 3 o’clock position, would have preferred the use of a black date wheel here instead. The rice style bracelet has that great retro vibe about it and goes nicely with the overall aesthetics of the Sub 750T GMT Professional. It is a good sized watch for a 21mm bracelet, most watches at this size move up a 22mm bracelet. The bracelet of course comes with a divers extension. If you are in the market for a dive watch steeped in history the Doxa 750T GMT is worth looking into. It has a lot of value at this price point and all the versions are Limited Edition.

Pros - GMT complication, 3 timezones, ETA 2893-2

Consideration - The bracelet is either love it or hate it
