Luminox is not the typical brand that W&R does reviews on. It has a special place and deserves some acknowledgement, Luminox is an American success story. In 1994 Luminox was called upon by the US Navy SEALs to make an even tougher watch than the ones currently in use that could withstand their training and missions. Luminox is known for their Tritium Gas Illumination System, this is tritium gas filled tubes. Unlike Superluminova, it always glows 24/7!
A few generations later emerges the Luminox Tactical Navy SEAL Dive watch. This version now comes in a lightweight tactical version. The case, bezel, case back, and strap are black giving a nice stealth like appearance. The case and bezel are made of reinforced PC carbon fiber. This watch has a Swiss Quartz movement, mineral crystal, and comes on a black polyurethane strap.
Pros - Tough watch, good enough for the US Navy SEALs!
Consideration - Mineral crystal can scratch easily.

Case: 43mm
Bezel: Unidirectional

Luminox Deep Dive Automatic Review
Luminox goes stealth with the Blackout 6402BO watch! The watch case and bracelet are stainless steel and have a PVD application applied to give the watch it’s “blackout” in appearance. The best part about Luminox watches is the now well known Tritium Gas Illumination System. The Blackout watch uses blue tritium tubes that illuminate blue, giving further uniqueness to this watch. There is even a gas filled capsule in the bezel where the lume dot would be located. This pip is protected by sapphire crystal, as is the dial. The tritium tubes are used at every hour marker and on all the hands and will glow all night long, 24/7 in the dark. The hands and numerals are black, while the dial is very dark gray in appearance. The Blackout 6402 is powered by a Swiss Quartz movement secured in the 46mm case.
Like all Luminox watches, it is tough and rugged. It also meets or exceeds all U.S. Armed Forces Military Specifications, that’s tough!
Pros - Stealth look works well on this watch, blue tritium illumination, rugged
Consideration - PVD can not be buffed out for scratches/scuffs

Luminox dives deep with the Deep Dive Automatic 1500 series. Luminox is known for making tough and rugged watches, they stay true with this serious dive watch. The Deep Dive is offered in four different hour marker dial combinations, blue, yellow, white, and orange. All of the choices have a great visual contrast against this blacked out watch. Illuminated nicely, with Luminox Light Technology or “LLT”, these tubes will shine consistently for 25 years. One of the more unique features is the Bezel Lock System or “BLS”. This prevents the bezel from accidentally moving once locked into place. The BLS helps ensure elapsed time is not shortened should the unidirectional bezel get accidentally moved while submerged. This Bezel Lock System also doubles as crown protector, very innovative.
The quick list of what you get with the Deep Dive, 500m water resistance, LLT, BLS, automatic ETA 2826-2 movement, extra thick sapphire crystal, PVD stainless steel case, large date window at 3 o’clock, and to top it all off an automatic HEV “helium escape valve”. Luminox did a nice added little touch with a diving helmet stamped on the case back, just incase you forget you are in the presence of a serious divers watch.
Pros - Visual contrast, construction, HEV, LLT, BLS
Consideration - One of Luminox more expensive timepieces
