TW CEO Canteen Chronograph TW1015 Review

The TW Steel Icon (TW622) has a great entry price point if you are interested in getting into a TW Steel watch. It is one of their least expensive watches coming in at $225 MSRP. This is the 45mm version, there is also a 50mm (TW623). I like the 45mm version as it still offers a nice big dial and large numerals/indices. It was not all that long ago when 42mm was considered a large watch.

Aesthetically, there is very little to nit pick about on this watch. The hour and minute hands match quite well with the indices, creating a good visual flow throughout the watch face. The watch does have lumed numerals and hands, the amount of time they glow is not fantastic. At this price point it is hard to complain much about the lume. The TW622 comes on a decent black aviator style strap with white stitching. An oversized crown adds the final touch to the overall design. This TW Steel is powered by a quartz movement and the dial is protected by mineral crystal. Is the TW Steel TW622 or TW623 ground breaking in design? No, but at this price point it is ahead of many watches in this price range.

Pros - Clean design, good value

Consideration - W&R are big fans of sapphire crystal, this watch uses mineral.

The TW Steel CEO Canteen series is becoming a favorite in the TW Steel line up. This is the TW1015 chronograph version coming in at 45mm, also offered in the even larger 50mm. Aesthetically, the “canteen” protecting the crown is a nice visual aspect of this watch. The canteen is unscrewed and moved outward attached to the watch case by a swinging arm. This unveils the now exposed crown to adjust the time and date. The dial is a bit busy with the thin minute markers for W&R tastes. There are two chronograph pushers, one very visible, the other is located between the canteen’s arm. The CEO Canteen TW1015 has the standard subdials locations, 9 o’clock chronograph minutes, 6 o’clock chronograph seconds, and 3 o’clock 24 hour timer. The watch has a tachymeter bezel that works well with the overall look of the timepiece.

Really like the combination of the red stitched leather strap and the red subdial hands. The small date window is tucked away at the 4:30 location. The numeral twelve stands alone against the stick hour markers, nice touch. Overall, this CEO Canteen offers a better than average value and looks sharp if you like busier dials.

Pros - Canteen crown guard, chronograph, red accents

Consideration - 4 o’clock chrono pusher not as easy to operate do to the canteen design
