The Tag Heuer Aquaracer 500M Calibre Diver mens watch is one of Tag’s latest releases, taking some similarities from the SLR. This dive watch features is a water resistance of of 500m, with a helium escape valve at the 10 o’clock position, and a brushed stainless steel case. Powered by Tag Heuer’s Calibre 5 automatic movement, that is built of off an ETA 2836-2, with a 42 hour power reserve. The Aquaracer 500M is also available in quartz for those who do not prefer automatic movements or want a less expensive version. Completely different in design for Tag is the date window located at the 9 o’clock position, rather than the more traditional 3-4 o’clock positioning. It also has a cyclops date magnifier, similar to the one Rolex uses. Uniquely, the bezel has a hard rubber circular pattern. There are five stainless steel numerals and six screws encompassing the bezel, adding further depth to 500M’s overall appearance. The bezel with it’s circular pattern compliments the vertical pattern throughout the dial.

Online pictures really do not do the Tag Heuer 500M much justice, this is one of those watches that is much better seen in person. It has the usual Tag Heuer quality you would expect, with a fresh design.

Pros - Aggressive lines, water resistance, price point.

Consideration -  Location of date window.

Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Day Date Review

Tag Heuer Formula 1 / F1 Watch Review

The Tag Heuer F1 (CAH1111.BA0850) mens watch has had more than a few new looks over the last couple years. This is the best design to date our opinion. It is clean and uncluttered for a chronograph. The big seconds window, at the six o’clock position looks much better than the previous versions. This F1 is 41mm, water resistant to 200m, and has sapphire crystal. The bezel is coated with a scratch resistant titanium carbide and is surprisingly hard to scratch. The bracelet on the watch is very comfortable and well built for this price point. It is also offered on a rubber strap, which looks a bit awkward coming out of the lugs. The watch is powered by a Swiss quartz movement and this Tag can handle some abuse.

Pros - Functional, aesthetically well designed, nice size, rugged.

Consideration - The price is starting to creep for a standard Swiss quartz movement.

Tag Heuer Monaco 24 Twenty Four Concept Review

The Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Calibre 17 RS mens watch is a big advancement in watch making from Tag Heuer. The Grand Carrera Chronograph RS is designed after a high performance engine of a GT sports car and presents a revolutionary new way of telling time. The breakthrough comes from the exclusive new Rotating System (RS), a new technology replacing hands with rotating disc.  This new system provides at a glance, easy to read chronograph functions.

The movement is built off of an ETA 2894 and is C.O.S.C. certified. There is a fantastic looking big date window at the 6 o’clock position, along with the very unique chronograph windows. The dial is visible through double AR coated sapphire crystal, there is a sapphire case back to view this nice movement. The dial features a hand applied TAG Heuer logo and curved markers for denoting the hours.

Pros - A great new version of a classic watch, new movement, C.O.S.C., very well finished watch and movement.

Consideration - Lacking in the lume department.

Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 Watch Review

The Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 is classic in design for a dive watch. The dial has almost a deep electric blue feel, further accented by the blue count down, unidirectional bezel. The bracelet on the Aquaracer is nice and substantial, with a folding clasp. The case is brushed and the bracelet has a brushed and polished links. The seconds hand is pronounced with an orange outlined pointer, adding a nice touch of contrast to watch. The dial is protected by sapphire crystal, with a date window at the standard 3 o’clock position. Calibre 5 is in reference to Tag Heuer’s automatic movement housed in the 41mm case. This Aquaracer will take you 300m into the deep blue. Overall, the Aquaracer Calibre 5 is good all around watch, though, nothing design wise that really jumps outs and bides for your attention.

Pros - Good value

Consideration - Would like a larger crown

The Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Day Date Calibre 16 (CV2A10.FC6235) is one of the latest versions in the Carrera line up. This has some of the very distinctive features of past Carrera’s, but with some fantastic updates. The face has silver toned applied numeral markers, giving the dial some nice depth. As the name suggest this is a Day Date version and features a chronograph function. It is the small attention to detail that make the difference on this watch, red accent in the seconds subdial, red tipped chrono counter, and the red trimmed chronograph start button. The day/date window is bold, but not over powering, nice crisp lines. The bezel is black with the expected Carrera Tachymeter scale.

The Tag Heuer Carrera Day Date is powered by Tag’s Calibre 16 automatic movement, nicely visible through the display back case. The larger 43mm case is nice and makes for a less cluttered dial. The case is supported by a black crocodile leather strap, with a deployant buckle. Still one W&R favorite watches, a true classic.

Pros - Nice movement, Day/Date, applied numerals, exhibition case back.

Consideration - The watch is 16.5mm thick.

The Monaco 24 (Twenty Four) Concept is no concept! It is here and Tag Heuer did not hold back on this contemporary take on the iconic Monaco. The Monaco 24 chronograph is of course heavily influenced by GT Racing. Specifically, the Gulf blue and orange striped Porsche 917K Steve McQueen drove in the movie Le Mans.  As seen in the pictures above, the dial and movement appear to be suspended in the watch by four shock absorbing arms, almost a floating effect. Tag Heuer has been very impressive in recent years, with their new designs and technical engineering. They continue to march forward and do not rest on their laurels.

What powers the futuristic Monaco 24? Only one of the most famous and renowned chronograph movements, the 36,000 BPH Zenith El Primero, known here as Calibre 36. The movement is protected by what Tag Heuer calls an Advanced Dynamic Absorber system, these are the four arms seen in each corner. Continuing the racing theme, the chronograph subdials echo that of car gauges. A little function is lost here to gain better visual appeal. The 24’s case has been PVD treated and the case back is almost entirely sapphire crystal for continued viewing of this beautifully crafted watch. The watch comes on an orange stitched crocodile strap, not sure this right fit for such a sporty watch. Especially, considering the case is PVD.

Tag took a big risk messing with legendary and classic Monaco. No risk, no reward, Tag Heuer nailed this one overall. Anyone who is lucky enough to own this bad boy will be wearing one of Tag Heuer’s best designs and technical achievements in recent years. On the flip side, the first scratch put on this PVD finish would be enough to make a grown man cry...

Pros - Well executed contemporary take on a classic, finish, Zenith El Primero

Consideration - This beauty has a price tag to match
