ALL WATCH REVIEWS ARE THOUGHT TO BE ACCURATE AT THE TIME OF THE REVIEW

The Victorinox Swiss Army Dive Master 500 Mecha (ref. 241355 & 241356) mens watch is stunning. The two things that grab W&R attention immediately is the gorgeous bezel and the watch is blacked out with PVD coating. In W&R opinion, this is one of the best watches to come out of Victorinox for a couple reasons, touched on in a moment. The 500 stands for 500m of water resistance and is an updated version of its predecessors. Most notably the movement is not quartz, the Dive Master Mecha is using an automatic ETA 2892-A2.

The watch has nice aggressive lines on the bezel, bold dial, swordfish hands, AR coated sapphire, and an updated date window featuring a  luminescent marker. Sticking with the larger trend, this Victorinox comes in at 43mm and is offered on a bracelet or rubber strap. Now for why W&R believes this to be the best dive watch that has come out of Victorinox found below in “Pros”.

Pros - Current MSRP w/ steel bracelet is $1,095! That gives you 500m WR, an ETA 2892-A2 (upgraded version, work horse movement), Gunmetal PVD coated, AR coated sapphire crystal, see through case back, tons of lume, Not to mention one kick a$$ looking watch.

Consideration - Verdict in my opinion is still out on how well PVD holds up

Victorinox Air Boss Mach 4 Watch Review

Case: Stainless Steel

Case Diameter: 45mm

Lug Width: 23mm

Dial: Black

Bezel: Bidirectional

Crystal: Sapphire

Power Reserve: 56 hrs

Movement: Unitas 6497

Water Resistance: 100m

The Victorinox Swiss Army Air Boss Mach 4 (ref. 241381) is another sharp watch released in 2009. One thing I really appreciate about Victorinox are the faces of the watches are generally very legible. Victorinox manages to put a lot of different features into their dials, while managing to keep the dial uncluttered visually.

The most distinctive feature of the new Mach 4 is the small seconds found at the 7 o’clock position. There is also an oversized crown at the 2 o’clock position, this controls the inner rotating bezel, acting as a 60 minute counter. The watch uses a Unitas 6497 manual movement, housed in the 45mm case. I feel with the Air Boss using an inner bezel the watch does not look as large when compared with an external bezel at 45mm. It is an oversized watch, but wears smaller. The Mach 4 has sapphire crystal, with an exhibition back. All of this is supported nicely on a brown leather, with a tang buckle.

Pros - Easy to read, unique seconds, sporty and dressy

Consideration - Lug width is not a standard size for other strap options

Victorinox Dive Master 500 Mecha Watch Review

Victorinox Swiss Army Maverick editions have done very well since they were first introduced 6 years ago. The new GS (Grand Sport) will surely continue the popularity of the Maverick line with it’s new updated looks. Maverick GS’s are offered in three versions, dual time, chronograph, and three hand. This review of the Dual Time or GMT is W&R favorite in the new line up. The best features about this watch are the big date at 12 o’clock, and the second time zone subdial at 6 o’clock, with hour and seconds hand. Aesthetically, Victorinox Swiss Army did a fantastic job. The hour hands, date window, and bolder design, all work very well on this watch. It is offered on rubber, but you are generally better to get the stainless steel bracelet first. Bracelets usually cost more after the initial purchase as a general rule of thumb. Overall, the Maverick GS is a winner, especially with the new larger case at 43mm.

Pros - New bolder design, larger case, price point

Consideration - Ronda quartz movement (around W&R we lean towards automatics)

Case: Stainless Steel

Case Diameter: 43mm

Bezel: Unidirectional

Dial: Black

Crystal: Sapphire

Bracelet: SS or Rubber

Lug Width: 22mm

Movement: Ronda 6203.B

Water Resistant: 100m

Victorinox Original 2011 Watch Review

Case: Stainless Steel

Case Diameter: 40mm

Bezel: Unidirectional

Crystal: Mineral

Dial: Navy Gray

Strap: NATO

Lug Width: 20mm

Movement: Quartz

Water Resistant: 100m

Victorinox Swiss Army has released a new look for the Original in the Fall of 2011. This is a pumped up version of the original Original of the same name. Confused yet? Victorinox increased the case size to 40mm from 37mm. W&R would have liked to seen this at 42mm or better. With the lower profile bezel, the watch wears smaller to begin with. This version is navy gray, visually appealing with the case, bezel, brushed dial, and NATO strap all done in the navy gray scheme. The dial is pleasantly simple, with the markers having a sandwich dial look, though, it is not a true sandwich dial. A date wheel in navy gray with white writing would finished this watch of nicely, but at a sub $300 price point that would have likely been a stretch. The Original is water resistant to 100m and has a screw in crown.

This latest version of the Original is offered in four variants, navy gray, black, khaki green, and beige. The khaki green version is very sharp as well, would be a nice watch to mix it up a bit. There is definitely value with the Original and a watch you can have some fun with.

Pros - Larger size, updated look, good value

Consideration - Only offered on a NATO strap, lume
